Media Type - The media type is required and is especially important when adding movies by UPC number since the media type is used as part of the key to search Amazon.com for the movie. Therefore, if you are entering a UPC number for a VHS tape, be sure your media type is VHS and likewise for DVDs.

If you wish to add more than one media type for the movie, you can add multiple media types on the Edit screen.

If the media type you want is not in the list, you can add it to the Media Types list from the Tools->Options->Miscellaneous screen.

Location - The location is where the media resides.

If you do not specify a location for the movies, the location field for each movie will be blank.

If you want all the movie files to have the same location, enter that location in this field. If you want some movies to have a different location, each movie can have a location specified for it by appending |location|, where location is the data you want entered in the location field, to the end of the movie file name, title or UPC number in the Movies field. The |location| will take precedence over the location entered in this field if one was entered.

Quick Add? - If you select 'Enter Movie Info Manually', the 'Quick Add?' box is ignored and each movie is added with minimum information.

If you entered UPC numbers and chose to get the movie information from Amazon, if a movie was not found at Amazon, the UPC number will be searched for at UPCdatabase.com. If the movie is found, the title retrieved will be used to search IMDb.com.

Otherwise, whether you enter UPC numbers, titles or path/file names, when you choose to get the movie information from IMDb.com, the movie title will be used to search IMDb.com

If multiple matches to the movie title are found and the 'Quick Add?' box IS checked, then the first title in the list of all the closest matched titles returned from IMDb.com, which is usually the closest match, is automatically selected and the movie database is updated with the selected title's movie information.

If the 'Quick Add?' box is NOT checked, then the list of all the closest matched titles to select from is displayed. Beside each title is a link to that title's movie information on IMDb.com so you can preview it before you select it. If you do not see a match you can select "Skip Selection" from the bottom of the screen and it will continue with the next movie in the list. You also have the option to abort adding movies from the list by selecting "Quit" from the bottom of the screen.

Once the title is selected from the list, the movie information is added to the database and the next movie will be processed.

Movies - Enter each movie followed by the 'enter' key. The list of movies can either be all UPC numbers, all titles, or all complete path/file names. The list of movies cannot be of mixed types.

Movie UPC numbers can be scanned in using a barcode reader. Just be sure to position you cursor in the Movies text area field before scanning.

If you want some movies to have a different location, each movie can have a location specified for it by appending |location|, where location is the data you want entered in the location field, to the end of the movie file name, title or UPC number in the Movies field. The |location| will take precedence over the location entered in the location field if one was entered.

Get Movie Info From IMDb.com [GO] - When this button is pressed, a text file is created and uploaded to the server and each movie in the text file is processed. It takes approximately 5-10 seconds per movie to retrieve information from IMDb.com. When it has completed, a list of all the movies and the title they were added as is displayed on the screen. A link to download the text file that was created with the information you entered on the screen will also be displayed. This same information, excluding the link to download the text file, is written to the Log File (addlog.txt) which can be viewed or downloaded and edited from the Tools -> Add -> Log File screen. This is very useful if you used the 'Quick Add' so you can cross reference your movies to make sure they were added as the correct title. If a movie was not added correctly, Edit the movie, type in the correct title, press 'Get IMDb Info', select the correct title and press 'Update Database'.

If not found, the UPC number will be searched for at UPCdatabase.com. If found, the title will be returned.

The title will be added to the database along with the media type and possible UPC number and ASIN number.
