Movie Manager Features
- Add Movies
You can add a movie to the movie database in several different
ways.
You can enter a single movie file name, title, or UPC number
and you can choose whether or not to import the movie information,
including the thumbnail DVD cover image, from IMDb.com or Amazon.com.
You can add a list of movie file names, titles, or UPC numbers
and choose whether or not to import the movie information,
including the thumbnail DVD cover image, from IMDb.com or Amazon.com.
When adding UPC numbers, you can speed up the process by using
a barcode scanner, such as the inexpensive CueCat.
You can browse to a text file which contains a list of all
your movies. The first two lines in the text file allow you
to define your media type, such as DVD or VHS, and location
of the media. The location must be preceded by : and the media
type must be preceded by ::.
This is all covered in the Adding
Movies Page of the user manual. You will also have
the option to import the movie information from IMDb.com (or
Amazon.com if UPC numbers were entered). If you choose to import
the movie information, you can choose whether or not to do
a quick add. When an exact match of the movie is not found,
IMDb.com returns a list of possible choices. If you choose
to do a quick add, the first movie from the list will automatically
be selected. If you do not choose quick add, you can select
the correct title from the list yourself.
On the Personal Server, you can enter a directory path and
it will search for and add all movie files in that directory
that have a valid extension as defined in the options setup.
You have the same options as mentioned above on whether you
want to import movie information and whether you want to do
the quick add.
A log file keeps track of the date and time and all the movies
you have added with the original title it searched for and the
title it added the movie as. It can be viewed as a web page,
opened in your default text editor (Personal Server only), or
downloaded to your local PC to edit and print (Online only).
There is also an option to clear the log file.
